I am writing this post from a hotel in Cusco, Peru. The husband and I are here, about to walk the Inca Trail into Machu Picchu. I had grand plans to write about how excited I was to have Peruvian asparagus in Peru (as Peruvian grown asparagus is all I can find in the shops in Australia at this time of year), but alas, I have not had an opportunity to eat any. I will continue the search, however.
Instead, I thought I'd share a bit of our Peruvian adventure with you all. We started in Lima, where we ate a great deal of crispy suckling pork.
And I went paragliding off the coast of Lima (amazing, simply amazing). We ate ceviche (and didn't get sick - thanks for the warning Mum!).
Then on to the Amazon jungle. I walked 11km through sticky sticky mud in gumboots to a lake, just so I could see a cayman (South American alligator). I'm not sure it was worth it...!
And now Cuzco. I'm coping well with the altitude so far, and enjoying the cold fter the stifling heat and humidity of the jungle. By the time this is posted I'll be three days into the Inca Trail, and I'll let you know how I'm going with the altitude then!
